It was interesting for me to read because I actually had no idea what kind of mathematician MacLane was. I didn't know that he was interested about mathematical logic at first, though that makes sense with his later advances in topos theory.

I didn't know that Saunders and MacLane were both surnames!

His viewpoint of the university life in Göttingen, especially in the nazi days, was interesting to me.
