Biography of Obi Emelonye

Obi Emelonye is a highly productive film producer, writer, director, and university lecturer, making significant contributions to the advancement of Nigerian cinema in the diaspora.

Born on March 24, 1967, in Port-Harcourt, Rivers Nigeria, he later established residence in London during the 1990s.
A former professional footballer and legal practitioner, Obi obtained a BA (Hons) Theatre Arts degree from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, in 1990.

He continued his academic journey with an LLB Law degree at the University of Wolverhampton in 1998, followed by a post-graduate degree in Legal Practice from London Metropolitan University in 2002. After practicing law for several years, he redirected his focus to his initial passion—film.

In 2019, Obi Emelonye earned certifications, achieving the status of a Chartered Management consultant. He is an esteemed member of the UK Directors Guild and the British Film Institute (BFI).
