    Li Hongzhang

    Li Hongzhang (李鴻章) (pinyin: Lǐ Hóngzhāng, Wade-Giles: Li Hung-chang) (February 16, 1823 - 1901), courtesy name Shàoquán (少荃), was a general who ended several major rebellions, statesman and ambassador of the ChineseQing Empire.

    Born in Hefei, Anhui province.
